Established as the Birmingham College of Art with roots dating back to 1843, it was designated as a polytechnic in 1971 and gained university status in 1992. In 2007, the University changed its name to Birmingham City. The University ranked as 96th in the Times University Guide 2020 and 81st in the Guardian University Guide 2020.
Three subjects ranked in the top 20 in the UK in the Guardian – Media Studies, Drama and Dance and General Engineering – and five more in the top 30 – Architecture, Art and Design, Education, Mechanical Engineering and Music. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework, almost 90% of Birmingham City University’s work was deemed ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’.
BCU Achievement Scholarship: Graduating with a first- or second-class undergraduate degree from BCU is eligible for Scholarship of up to £3,000 when they progress directly on to study a Master’s degree.
Undergraduate Scholarships: Every year the university provide a number of scholarships recognizing the talents of international students, which will be applied towards the cost of your tuition fees. All international students enrolling on an undergraduate course will be eligible for a scholarship of up to £2,000. This is awarded based on your academic background.
Postgraduate Scholarships: University Provide a number of scholarships recognizing the talents of international students a scholarship of up to £2,000. This is awarded based on your academic background. Your grade will need to be the equivalent to a UK degree:
Prompt Payment Bursary: If you pay your tuition fees in full before travelling to, or during your enrolment in the UK, you will be entitled to a £300 prompt payment discount. This discount applies to the amount you owe after any scholarships or bursaries have been deducted from your tuition fee.
